It has emerged that Amanda Staveley and the consortium she represents could look at alternative investment opportunities other than Tottenham Hotspur, with a number of takeover opportunities opening up across the Premier League.
Over recent months, we have heard a lot of reports regarding the talks between Staveley and Daniel Levy regarding a minority takeover of Tottenham.
The former Newcastle co-owner, through her investment vehicle PCP Capital Partners, is thought to have raised around £500m so far in an effort to buy a 25 per cent stake in the North London club.
Speaking at a recent event, Staveley confirmed that talks are going on in the background with some parties, hinting that an announcement might soon be impending.
She said: “Yes, we’re looking at a number of investment operations. We can’t say too much at the moment because of you know, rules around it. But we will be able to talk about it, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.”
While some Spurs fans might have got excited by Staveley’s recent comments, TBR Football now say that she and the consortium she represents might also be studying other investment opportunities.
The outlet reveals that they are considering putting their money in AS Monaco, who are now up for sale, while Crystal Palace might also be of interest, with John Textor now trying to offload his 45 per cent stake in the Eagles.
Additionally, West Ham are thought to be seeking a buyer for a chunk of the shares owned by Vanessa Gold, while Brentford and Wolves are also looking for a minority partner.
The publication also points out that all the clubs owned by 777 Partners, including Standard Liege, Red Star, Sevilla and Vasco da Gama, are also up for sale.
Given the strength of Tottenham’s balance sheet, and the revenue-generating potential of the club’s stadium, they would be far more attractive to investors than any of the aforementioned clubs.
However, one possible issue is that Levy is only looking for minority investment, while potential investors might prefer opportunities for a full takeover so that they have control over the club.
