BELLE Dingle takes on her abuser Tom King in tense courtroom scenes in Emmerdale – but was justice served?
Master manipulator and abuser Tom King’s (James Chase) fate was finally revealed in Thursday’s episode of Emmerdale.
On trial for coercive controlling behavior and assault, Tom was determined to destroy is ex-wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in court.
As the intense legal battle unfolded, Tom’s manipulative actions came under scrutiny, putting Belle’s courage to the test.
Belle bravely gave a powerful testimony, exposing the full extent of the abuse Tom subjected her to.
Her courage directly challenged his lies, as she stood strong against his false narrative.
Tom was quizzed over his use of cameras and trackers in the house after he moved out and why he tried to dispose of the tablet with the video footage on.
It proved he lied to the police as he said he installed them when he lived there for security reasons, making the jury think what else he was lying about.
The episode gave the perspective of the jury, who were seen in conflict over who was telling the truth after the trail.
Heidi (Denise Welch) demonstrated experience and sensitivity as she discussed Tom’s actions, helping to expose his abusive behavior from Belle’s recount.
However, Karl (Charles Dale) initially showed sympathy for Tom, reluctant to accept his guilt.
Over time, Karl’s perspective shifted, and he began to recognise that Tom was indeed at fault.
Just before their final vote, Kenneth (Jack Ellis) shared a haunting story about a man his daughter once knew, now imprisoned for his wife’s murder.
He explained how he’d seen a similar “haunted” look in the wife’s eyes before and now recognised it in Belle.
This powerful comparison helped highlight the deep emotional toll of her abuse at Tom’s hands.

Tom King was found guilty of coercive control and assault, receiving a three-year prison sentence.
The judge said: “Mr King, your campaign of abuse against your wife went on even beyond the end of your functioning relationship. In fact, it increased in severity.
“I believe you have demonstrated no remorse for your actions, and have no inclination to change your ways.
“Therefore, I impose a custodial sentence of three years. You may take him down.”
Belle’s loved ones celebrated as Tom was convicted.
After the verdict, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) asked Belle where she had been, and Belle revealed she had been attending a support group for domestic abuse survivors.
The episode then featured a flashback, allowing viewers to hear the heartbreaking real-life stories of women who had endured controlling and violent relationships, highlighting the emotional journey that led Belle to reclaim her strength.
The outcome of the trial will have a long-term impact on Belle’s journey toward healing.
But there are happier times ahead for Belle as she will enjoy a joyful reunion with her beloved dog, Piper, this Christmas.
