Paul Robinson believes that Tottenham Hotspur will prioritise addressing two positions in the January window.
It has been widely reported over the last week that despite the noise coming from the outside, Postecoglou still retains the full backing of Daniel Levy.
In fact, several outlets have stated that the Spurs chairman is expected to back the Australian with the signings he wants in the January transfer window so that he has the best chance of succeeding at N17.
There is no doubt that the Tottenham squad needs significant reinforcements, with the club’s injury situation exposing the side’s lack of depth.
Robinson is of the opinion that his former side will look to bring in a central defender and a new goalkeeper, given the injuries that Postecoglou is currently dealing with.
When asked about Tottenham’s priorities in next month’s window, the former England number one told Football Insider: “It’ll be a centre-back and a goalkeeper. A new centre-back and a new goalkeeper will be the two areas they look at in January.
“Fraser Forster has done really well, but I think they need somebody alongside him because behind him they’ve got nothing.”
While Tottenham could enter the market for a centre-back and a goalkeeper, they would likely only sign backups for those areas rather than potential starters.
However, Postecoglou would believe that he can upgrade the starting eleven with a midfielder and a new winger. An all-action box-to-box midfielder and a wide player who is skilled in one-v-one situations might thus be Tottenham’s priority signings in January.
