Christmas is always a time for bank balances getting squeezed, as well as maybe getting some extra cash in your stocking.
If you need to get to the bank with all this money changing hands, you may want to pop to your local branch over the festive period.
But just when are the banks open over Christmas?
Given that Christmas Day and Boxing Day are both bank holidays, branches will be closed on these days as the name suggests.

Yes, but many banks will close early on December 24 to allow staff time to go home and spend the day with family.
For example, Santander branches will close at 3pm rather than 5pm, while HSBC branches will close at 12pm.
It’s best to check with your bank and local branches to see what time they’ll be closing this Christmas Eve if you do have any last-minute business to attend to pre-Christmas, as it will be your last chance for a few days.

Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday this year, so banks will be closed on Wednesday, December 25.
The following day will be the Boxing Day bank holiday on Thursday, December 26.
No, but if you need to withdraw cash, you can still use a cash machine.
Similarly, you’ll be able to pay using online banking, but payments and deposits might take longer to process.
The vast majority of banks will be closed on Boxing Day.
Most banks will be open again on Friday December 27 and will return to normal opening hours.
New Year’s Day on Wednesday January 1 will also be a bank holiday with branches closed, however, so get your banking done before that.
