The greatest movie Santa of all time might suddenly be our favorite action star. Though you tragically can't watch the movie this year, Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently filming a movie called The Man with the Bag, in which he plays the titular man, better known as Santa Claus.
The movie is all about Santa (played by Schwarzenegger) teaming-up with a super-thief named Vance to track down his missing load of toys in order to make Christmas happen. Vance will be played by Alan Ritchson, better known as Jack Reacher in the Reacher TV series. Like Reacher, the new Schwarzenegger Santa flick is produced by Amazon. It's expected to hit sometime next year. Schwarzenegger just posted a photo of himself and Ritchson on the set of the movie, saying on Instagram, "I can’t wait to share all of this Christmas cheer with each and every one of you."
Schwarzenegger is certainly no stranger to family films, or even Christmas movies. In 1996, he starred in Jingle All the Way opposite of Sinbad as two warring dads trying to get the last of a certain coveted Christmas toy. In 1991, Kindergarten Cop was released on December 21, making that one a kind of low-key Christmas movie. Meanwhile, 1999's End of Days, which positioned Arnold's detective character as someone who was battling the devil (and may have been the second coming of Christ) was a Thanksgiving movie, meaning many people saw it during the holidays that year.
Clearly, The Man With the Bag is set to be Arnold's biggest family movie to date, and at 77 years old, it seems like he's the perfect age to play Santa. Will Arnold become the best movie Santa of all time? If the movie is great, he could suddenly step into his most famous role of all time. Which, for a former Barbarian and Terminator, is saying something.
