Travelers aboard an American Airlines flight were beset by an unforeseen dilemma when the cabin began flooding with water mid-flight.
The incident occurred on a Dec. 7 route from Dallas to Minneapolis. Somewhere between Texas and Minnesota, the plane sprung a leak and a river of water began running down the aisle from the back of the aircraft.
Passenger Hilary Stewart Blazevic caught video of the unbelievable scene and uploaded the footage to TikTok, joking that the “in-flight movie was Titanic.” The clip, which is scored to Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” shows wary passengers edging away from the expanding leak, which is steadily seeping under each and every seat.

Blazevic later told Storyful (via The New York Post) that another passenger had used the restroom before the flooding began. Though the traveler alerted a flight attendant to the situation, the crew member was unable to staunch the flow of water. “It was utter disbelief and a little panic realizing they can’t shut off the water,” Blazevic told the outlet, recalling how they and other passengers began removing their items from the floor to avoid the “disgusting” pool.
“Imagine drowning…on a plane…in air,” one commenter wrote on Blazevic’s video. Others were able to find humor in the situation. “Another reason to wear closed-toe shoes and not flip flops and crocs,” another said of in-flight attire. “The way the reflection at the end looks like one of the lifeboats,” yet another commenter joked.
American Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Men’s Journal.
