Trinity Rodman, the daughter of former NBA star Dennis Rodman, slammed her father in a recent interview on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.
“He's a person. He's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else,” the 22-year-old Washington Spirit forward candidly expressed. Trinity told Cooper that while she has previously kept mum about her strained relationship with her dad, she saw this interview as "my opportunity to, kind of, talk more—I don’t want to say negatively, but [be] more realistic about it."
The Olympic gold medalist recalled that her mother, Michelle Moyer, made the tough decision to move with Trinity and her older brother, DJ, out of Rodman’s house when the star failed to curb his party-fueled lifestyle. "We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7. He’s bringing random b----es in,” she recalled. “My mom didn’t want—she was strong enough to deal with it because even to this day, I still believe that my dad hasn’t loved anyone after my mom.”
Trinity continued: “I think my mom just saw the situation of, ‘We love each other. It’s not gonna work. For my kids, I can’t have them seeing you treat me this way, embarrass me this way and have the party scene all the time.” Trinity later told Cooper, “He’s an alcoholic. That’s something that I don’t want to say, but I’m just like, f--k it. It’s just the truth.”

Moyer filed for divorce in 2004, but it wasn’t finalized until 2012. At that time, Trinity said, she and her brother “were seeing [Dennis] once, two, three, four times a year.” She added that after Moyer filed for divorce, her father became financially “controlling” stopped helping them with money. That resulted in the three living out of their SUV for a period of time.
“Before the divorce happened, my dad was actually helping money-wise,” Trinity explained. “He would actually give money to my mom and let us live life a little bit. When the divorce happened, it was just like, ‘F--k you guys,” she continued. “We’re getting enough money to pay rent, barely…My dad, he likes to be in control. So he would take us shopping, get us phones…and me and my brother are like, ‘We don't want to go shopping, we just want money to go get In-N-Out after school with our friends.’”
Despite her withering appraisal, Trinity told Cooper she’s open to reconciling with her father and is trying to follow her “conscience” on the matter, speaking to him when he reaches out so that he understands she’s there for him even if he wasn’t there for her. "If something does happen [to him], God forbid, I want to know that I [spoke to him]. Or if he needed to hear my voice before anything happens,” she said. “That’s why I answer the phone, not for me.”
