Jota Sofa is a minimalist sofa created by London-based designer Jasper Morrison for Fredericia. Part of the Jota Lounge Collection, the sofa reflects Morrison’s affinity for Danish designer Børge Mogensen’s timeless aesthetic, reinterpreted with a contemporary sensibility. Jasper Morrison’s design approach has long focused on balancing functionality and minimalism. Known for his practical, understated creations, Morrison prioritizes quality and relevance. The Jota Lounge Collection continues this tradition, drawing inspiration from Mogensen’s design language while incorporating modern touches and softened lines. The collection stays true to Fredericia’s heritage of craftsmanship, merging traditional techniques with refined details. The sofas and lounge chair feature French seams on the cushions and subtle piping along the arms, reminiscent of Mogensen’s BM22 series.
Solid oak legs, discreetly recessed, provide stability and durability without compromising the collection’s clean aesthetic. The combination of firm arms and plush cushions strikes a balance between elegance and robustness. Manufactured at Fredericia’s workshop in Svendborg, Denmark, the collection upholds high standards of precision and comfort. The seating features removable cushion covers, with a wide range of textile options, including EU Ecolabel-certified fabrics. Decorative pillows offer opportunities for customization, introducing contrasting colors to the upholstery. Each piece in the collection—the lounge chair, two-seater sofa, and three-seater sofa—is constructed with a solid pine frame and FSC-certified oak legs, available in light oil, natural lacquer, or black lacquer finishes.
