NBL Division 1 side Thames Valley Cavaliers have rebranded to the London Cavaliers, in a “strategic shift” as they aim to capitalise on London’s global reputation and expand their reach.
Following on from the club’s takeover by Vince Macaulay and Nhamo Shire earlier this season, the Cavaliers say they have positioned themselves “to engage a broader fan base, access greater sponsorship opportunities, and establish stronger ties to the city’s vibrant sports culture”, while “boosting the team’s visibility and commercial appeal”.
“London represents opportunity, diversity, and energy. By aligning ourselves with the capital, we’re opening doors to new partnerships, fans, and initiatives that were previously out of reach,” said Shire, the Cavaliers’ Co-owner.
The rebrand continues to add fuel to the fire that a potential bid to join the Super League Basketball could be on the cards.
Vince Macaulay added:
“This isn’t just a name change; it’s a commitment to grow the game and inspire the next generation of British male and female players as well as fans.”
The club says they plan to strengthen its youth development programs and expand grassroots basketball initiatives, with a particular focus on underserved communities in London.
The London Cavaliers will debut their new name and branding in NBL Division One right away, along with a new website set to be live at londoncavs.com along with the social handles @londoncavs.
