On Monday, three people were killed in a shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. Authorities say that a female “juvenile” believed to be the shooter and a student at the school was one of the people found dead in the building. Per CNN, at least six others were injured in the shooting and have been taken to nearby hospitals.
During a press conference, authorities said the shooting appears to have been “confined to one space” and that the family of the suspect is cooperating in the investigation. (Police initially indicated that five people were dead but later issued a correction.) Two students at the school, which goes from kindergarten through 12th grade, are reportedly in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson, who is staunchly opposed to gun control, responded to the shooting on X. “My sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School,” he wrote. “I will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
This is a developing story, and we will update this post as more information becomes available.
