Before we dive into the pits of conspiracy theorist social media, let me begin this by making it abundantly clear I don’t buy any of this foolishness. Over the thousands of plays and events that take place over an 18-week season, strange coincidences are bound to happen. This is just one of the strangest.
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is likely out for the season after suffering a torn MCL on Sunday. That means he’ll finish the year with 775 rushing yards — just a half-yard short of his preseason rushing prop.
That’s right. Montgomery got hurt just one yard short of cashing the over.
Beats don’t get badder than that.
This one was so brutal, some people couldn’t rationalize that it could happen without some kind of interference. It had to be scripted, right?

Let’s just entertain the ridiculous theory that entire NFL seasons and even injuries could somehow be scripted, do people actually think a David Montgomery prop would draw enough action to make it worthwhile for “Vegas” to put in some kind of call? That Montgomery would throw the end of a season where the Lions have a legitimate chance of winning a Super Bowl?
Sounds kinda ridiculous, right? Nonetheless, some people can’t bring themselves to believe anything else.
