A brief overview: Just three years ago, in 2021, the purse was set at $12 million — what was then a record total for the tournament, and a number that was surpassed by only the U.S. Open. Two years ago, the 2022PGA Championship purse increased to $15 million. And last year, the 2023 PGA Championship purse jumped yet again to a whopping total of $17.5 million. (The Players Championship remains the richest purse in golf at a total of $25 million.)This year, the 2024 PGA Championship purse increased again to a total of $18.5 million.
