The theme of the land is yet to be revealed, although there will be both indoor and outdoor rollercoasters.
The current Kobra ride will be one of them, although is being reimagined as part of the new land.
An immersive family ride as well as play areas and sensory zones will be your younger guests.
More food and drink stalls as well as souvenir stalls are part of the new land.
It will replace the current Wild Asia area and nearby glamping site.
The new indoor rides hope to make Chessington a ‘year-round theme park’.
The planning documents state, Blooloop reports: “The ‘need’ to continue investing in the right way is critical to the resort’s success, and in doing so will help to ensure it is able to compete with other leisure/visitor attractions in the South East, e.g. Paultons Park in Hampshire and Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.
“Merlin is very keen for the resort to become a year-round attraction and the indoor elements proposed in the new themed land would help this transition.
“This ‘evolution’ will add to the attractiveness of the resort to guests and will help to ‘smooth’ the visitor number profile, potentially reducing the summer peak and spreading this into other months.”
Another new themed land being planned at Chessington hopes to take on Alton Towers’ CBeebies Land.
Replacing part of the Mexicana and Children’s Zoo, the land will have rides for younger guests, such as smaller rollercoasters and rides.
And announced last year was plans for a huge new waterpark at Chessington.
Hoping to ‘rival Disneyland,’ the water attraction would have wave pools and infinity pools, as well as water slides and splash pads.
Chessington also has plans for slides, pools and a spa[/caption] The waterpark could rival Disneyland[/caption]An ‘adventure river’ splash zone and ‘beach’ would be part of the attraction along with a spa.
The current Safari Hotel would also be expanded as part of the land.
An official opening date is yet to be confirmed for any of the lands.
Chessington only became a theme park in 1987, although opened as a zoo in 1931.
