SAN RAFAEL
A woman was arrested on allegations she tried to stab her roommate to death at their apartment in San Rafael.
The incident happened at about 1:45 p.m. Friday at an apartment complex on Channing Way. The residents were arguing over housekeeping issues when the suspect took a kitchen knife and stabbed her roommate’s chest, police Lt. Scott Eberle said.
Letta Oneka Glover, 54, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. Her bail was set at $500,000.
Her roommate was still in a hospital Monday, Eberle said.
ROSS
The Town Council has approved a plan to build a swimming pool, a deck, terraced patios and stairs and retaining walls at 40 Upper Road.
The pool will be 17 feet by 45 feet. The project required a design review permit because of the amount of new impervious surface and other factors, according to a staff report by Alex Lopez-Vega, a town planner.
The Advisory Design Review Group endorsed the plan in November. The council held a hearing on the project at its meeting on Thursday.
NOVATO
A traffic checkpoint to screen for intoxicated drivers yielded no DUI arrests, but officers issued 11 citations for other license or vehicle violations, police said Monday.
Novato police conducted the checkpoint Friday on South Novato Boulevard near Sunset Parkway. Police said 323 vehicles went through it.
The staffing costs for the checkpoint were supported by a state and federal grant program.
TRANSIT
Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit canceled train service Monday while crews addressed damage from the weekend storm.
The storm aftermath included downed trees and damaged power poles and tracks, the agency said. Train service is expected to be restored on Tuesday.
The agency did not run trains over the weekend because of work to prepare for a new station opening in Petaluma.
