Indian team avoided a follow-on as they scored 252 runs for the loss of nine wickets when bad light caused early stumps on Day 4 of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane.
Ravindra Jadeja (77) and KL Rahul (84) were the main drivers of India’s comeback, but once they got dismissed, Jasprit Bumrah (10) and Akash Deep (27) helped the team push the team total forward, as they made a fabulous last-wicket stand of 39 off 54 balls.
Skipper Pat Cummins was the most successful bowler as he took 4 wickets for 80 runs, along with Mitchell Starc who claimed three wickets for 83 runs. Nathan Lyon also picked up a wicket as Josh Hazlewood got ruled out of the match due to an injury.
Ravindra Jadeja kept India’s chance alive as he steadied the innings, sharing a 53-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy (16), who got dismissed by Pat Cummins in the post-lunch session that came in after a long shower of heavy rain.
KL Rahul had earlier played a crucial knock in India’s comeback, as he contributed 84 runs t solidify team’s innings, along with Jadeja who added 67 runs to the team total.
The five-match Test series is currently tied at a score of 1-1.
