'Utter embarrassment to himself' - Pundit rips Marcus Rashford apart after Manchester derby - report

ESPN pundit Craig Burley has ripped Marcus Rashford apart for his social media post after Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The England international and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of the squad for the game by manager Ruben Amorim.

Amorim did not regret leaving out Rashford for the clash, as United were able to win without him.

Two moments of brilliance from ‘sensational‘ Amad Diallo helped the Red Devils turn the game on its head after trailing Man City for most of the fixture.

The Ivorian won a penalty, which Bruno Fernandes converted for the equaliser. He then scored the winner with a brilliant solo effort.

Rashford took to his Instagram account to celebrate his colleagues, but that did not go down well with Burley.

He told ESPN FC: “For Rashford to be posting on his Instagram while his colleagues are out there, grafting to get a victory, when he is not there because his attitude allegedly, among other things, is not good enough.

“He is frankly a joke. He should not be anywhere near social media. He should have kept his head down, embarrassed that he was not at the Etihad to help.

“One of the worst things that could have happened to Man United in the last two to three years was Rashford having a magnificent season a couple of years ago, and United had to give him a new contract because they were in a corner.

“I have played against some of the best players that have ever played at United. When they get a new contract, they push to be even better. But Rashford, he got this new bumper contract and does not care.

“To sit there and post on social media when you have been embarrassed by the manager who does not like what he is seeing. He is an utter embarrassment to himself and his football club.”

Rashford’s days at United are numbered

Rashford has given more reasons for him to be sold after being left out of Amorim’s biggest game as United’s manager.

Amorim stated after the Manchester derby that he was not left out of the squad for disciplinary reasons, but it is easy to infer that the manager was displeased with him.

After it emerged that Man United considered him disposable, Rashford should have buckled down and proved he could be a vital player.

The Red Devils had lost back-to-back Premier League games before yesterday’s fixture, making a top-four or top-seven finish difficult.

The worst thing that could have happened to the club before the Manchester derby was to have one of its best players not in shape for the game.

Rashford still has time to prove critics wrong, but the chances of him leaving Old Trafford are high now.
