Puma and South Korean designer Juun.J have teamed up once again, this time reimagining the iconic Speedcat silhouette.
After delivering a reimagining of the Plexus sneaker in 2023, for their second footwear collaboration, the two have created what was described as “a stealthy and structural rework” of the Speedcat. Specifically, Juun.J opted to create a high-top and a low-top version of the iconic Puma shoe.
According to a statement, the Puma x Juun.J Speedcat come with “a modernized design,” including “armor-like” uppers with “reworked lines that accentuate the upper.” This reworking, the brands explained, brings “acute definition” to the toebox, and the Formstrip branding features rippling contours for texture.
What’s more, the looks feature debossed logos on the toe and upper, and specifically for the high-top shoe, Juun.J branding appears on the strap. As for the shoe’s outsoles, they feature tire-inspired tread patterns that “evoke the Speedcat’s legacy in the world of motorsports and F1 racing.”
The Puma x Juun.J Speedcat is available now via Juun.J and at select Puma retailers.
Aside from the second Juun.J project, Puma has been busy on the collaboration front as of late. For instance, 247 — the performance sub-brand British menswear label Represent — revealed a 12-piece clothing and footwear collection last week. Also, Puma released a Suede and Easy Rider on Dec. 12 in collaboration with “Squid Game.”
And, of course, Puma’s collaborative efforts with rap star A$AP Rocky earned Collaboration of the Year honors at the 38th annual FN Achievement Awards on Dec. 4.
