CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- Crowley Police are looking for a man they say tried to rob someone in an online purchase exchange, officials said.
Edward Mott Jr. is wanted on an arrest warrant for one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.
Crowley Police Chief Troy Hebert said officers responded Dec. 10 to a shooting in the 1300 block of W. 9th Street, where one subject was shot in the leg and was later treated for the wound at a local hospital.
The incident occurred after an out-of-town subject responded to a Facebook Marketplace advertisement for a truck being sold in Crowley, authorities said. After arriving and speaking to the subject who was allegedly selling a truck, the victim became suspicious and attempted to leave, at which time the suspect, now identified as Mott, wielded a gun and demanded the money he had brought with him.
Detectives said the victim was able to disarm Mott during a physical altercation, which resulted in the suspect being shot in the leg by his own firearm.
The incident is still under investigation.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Edward Mott Jr. is asked to please contact the Crowley Police Department at 337-783-1234.
