ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Collar City Mushrooms has announced it will begin moving its business to Indian Ladder Farms, nearly two years after discussions between the two businesses started. The mushroom business will have a dedicated retail space and access to the woodlands for cultivation and foraging.
Collar City Mushrooms is an urban mushroom farming and education business that opened in 2020. The business also delivers a variety of mushrooms to businesses and markets around the Capital Region, including collaborating with Indian Ladder Farms to create beers and ciders.
"This partnership with Indian Ladder Farms is the perfect next step for Collar City Mushrooms,"
said Avery Stempel, owner of Collar City Mushrooms. "Indian Ladder Farms’ dedication to
education and sustainability mirrors our own goals, especially as we work with local schools and
community organizations to teach the benefits and wonders of mushrooms. Having the
opportunity to forage and grow in an environment like this is a game-changer for us."
The mushroom business began transitioning on Friday, delivering some of their shipping containers. At the farm, the two businesses will expand educational opportunities and introduce new and sustainable products to the farm store.
"This partnership not only expands the educational opportunities we can offer but also introduces a unique and sustainable product to our farm store. Together, we can create a richer experience for the community while promoting local agriculture," Laura Ten Eyck, manager of Indian Ladder Farms said."
The move will become official at the end of the month when Collar City Mushroom's current lease ends. The retail space will open inside the Farm Store on March 15.
