A 12-year-old girl has been charged with manslaughter after pensioner Bhim Kohli was found injured in a park, before later dying of his injuries.
The grandad, 80, was seriously assaulted as he walked his dog in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, on September 2.
The girl appeared in Leicester Youth Court, sitting at Leicester Magistrates’ Court, and was ordered to appear at the city’s Crown Court on February 3.
The defendant, who cannot be named because of her age, was granted bail after a short hearing.
Five children – three aged 12, the others 14 – were previously arrested on suspicion of his murder. A 15-year-old boy will go to court, charged with his murder, later this week.
The inquest into his death, which was suspended until the ongoing criminal proceedings are finished, heard that a provisional cause of death for the grandad was ‘serious neck injuries’.
His family said in a statement at the time: ‘Bhim was a loving husband, dad and granddad. He was also a son, brother and uncle.
‘He adored his grandkids with all his heart and loved spending time with them. He really was such a loving, caring person whose life was centred around his family.’
