He added: “I need to show you this, this here is a detonator. Now, let me tell you, when you press this button here, it changes the entire show.
“It sets off fireworks, it changes the lighting, it changes the music.
“So, we need somebody very responsible to look after this!”
After intructing audience member Adam to help, Stephen made his way back onto the stage and told the audience: “There’s a reason I do this trick, I don’t want to bring the atmosphere down, but my grandad taught me how to do this trick when I was just 11 years old.
“Sadly, my grandad passed away two weeks ago…”
But it was at that moment Adam set the confetti off – resulting in Stephen yelling: “Stop this!”
He pointed at Adam and said: “That was the wrong time, my friend!”
Stephen made his way back to him and exclaimed: “What the hell were you thinking’?”
He then yanked him out of his seat and told him: “Get out and stay out, I’m not joking.”
Luckily the audience saw the funny side and laughed through Adam’s slip-up.
Following his performance during the show Stephen paid tribute to his late dad Christopher.
It comes after he collapsed when he suffered a bad reaction to an anaesthetic at a Pizza Express meal following an earlier operation.
