Saturday sport: Fulham lead 10-man Liverpool at Anfield, Ulster all level with Bordeaux

Soccer

Premier League leaders Liverpool are 1-0 down to Fulham at half-time.

Andreas Pereira fired the Cottagers in front and Liverpool have been reduced to 10 men as Andy Robertson has been sent off.

Third-place Arsenal are being held 0-0 against Everton while Newcastle are 1-0 up at home to Leicester.

Meanwhile a Matt Doherty own goal has Ipswich 1-0 up against struggling Wolves.

Nottingham Forest take on Aston Villa in the 5:30pm game.

Leeds have missed the chance to go top of the Championship after a 1-1 draw away at Preston.

The visitors scored in stoppage time to rescue a point at Deepdale.

Rugby

Jordie Barrett will start for Leinster for the first-time when they take on Clermont in the Investec Champions Cup at the Aviva Stadium this evening.

The All-Black international starts at full-back in one of five changes made by Leo Cullen, which also sees captain Caelan Doris come in to start.

RG Snyman is again among the replacements and Cullen is not ruling out the South African lock extending his time at the province:

Ulster are looking to bounce back from last week’s record defeat against Toulouse.

They currently lead Bordeaux at the Kinspan Stadium.

Interim Munster coach Ian Costello says Craig Casey could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Ireland scrum-half left on crutches after the Reds’ 16-14 loss to Castres after suffering a knee injury.

Costello says they will have to wait on a scan to determine the extent of the issue but admitted that it looks ‘pretty serious’.

South African winger Thaakir Abrahams is also set to miss Munster’s festive fixtures after dislocating his shoulder in the game.

GAA

Galway’s Kilkerrin Clonberne aim to win a fourth successive AIB All-Ireland Club Ladies Football title later.

Having not lost in 43 Championship games, they face first time finalists Kilmacud Crokes of Dublin in the decider at Croke Park.

Swimming

Ellen Walshe says she’ll everything she has left in her two finals this evening at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Hungary.

The Dubliner will be in the pool for the medal races in the 400-metres medley and the 100-metres butterfly.

Shane Ryan goes in the semi-finals of the 50-metres freestyle, after securing a bronze in the 50-metres backstroke last night.

Golf

Marcus Kinhult will take a two-shot lead into tomorrow’s final round at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The Swede is 14-under-par after a third round 69 in South Africa.

Tom McKibbin is five-under-par, having also signed for a round of 69 on Saturday.

Racing

The Willie Mullins-trained Majborough has made a winning start over fences in today’s Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse.

Jockey Mark Walsh says the former Triumph Hurdle winner made a few mistakes but looked good overall in registering a six-and-a-half-lengths victory.
