King tides at Oregon coast, dry in Willamette Valley

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Active weather along the Oregon Coast and up in the mountains continues. Heavy mountain snow is expected early Sunday morning and late Sunday night above 3,500 feet. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday for the northern and central Oregon Cascades with the possibility of 6 to 12 new inches of snow above 3,500 feet.

As for the coast, scattered rain showers will remain for our Sunday with a few dry moments especially in the afternoon. King tides and sneaker waves remain a threat Sunday along the Oregon and Washington coast.

There's a slight chance that the northern or central Oregon coast could also see a non-severe thunderstorm during our Sunday afternoon or evening hours.

Portland and the Willamette Valley will see mostly dry conditions come Sunday afternoon and into our early evening hours. Daytime highs will sit in the upper 40s around the metro area. Scattered rain showers are expected to return around 7 or 8 p.m. Sunday night.

Looking ahead to next week, rain showers are on and off again throughout most the workweek in Portland. It's not until late in the week the showers start to taper off. Circle Wednesday as the warmest day next week as we look to get into mid-50s for a daytime high in Portland.

But before that, enjoy a mostly dry Sunday afternoon in the upper 40s around the metro and mid-40s for much of the central part of the valley.
