European football expert and Bundesliga fanatic Andy Brassell believes that Tottenham Hotspur would have to spend an exorbitant fee to sign one forward, who reportedly ranks near the top of their wishlist.
It has been widely reported over the last few days and weeks that Tottenham will prioritise strengthening their forward line in the January window, which is not surprising, given the injuries the Lilywhites have upfront.
One man who is thought to be on Tottenham‘s radar is Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, who has been tearing up the Bundesliga since the start of the season.
The 25-year-old, who has hit the back of the net 17 times across all competitions this season, was reportedly scouted by Tottenham recently, while the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool are also thought to have their eye on him.
Andy Brassell is a huge fan of the Egyptian star and is convinced that he is going to reach the very top over the coming years.
However, he suggested that Premier League sides would have to fork out €100m (£82.4m) to sign the prolific centre-forward in the upcoming transfer window.
Brassel explained to On the Continent podcast about Marmoush: “He looks absolutely unstoppable. A goalscorer, assister, and he is the only player Bayern have really looked vulnerable against this season.
“He took Bayern to bits. It is not at all surprising that a lot of Premier League clubs have been linked to him. He was a player of some promise [but] who has exploded into this absolute superstar.
“I don’t think [Marmoush will go to] Liverpool because, obviously, you have got the weight of replacing Liverpool’s best player of recent years.
“It is hard to imagine them in the same team, especially with all the other attacking talent that Liverpool have. Eintracht will charge a lot for him.
“So, when we look at Spurs and Newcastle, I think he would improve both of those [but] where would they find the money for him? I think we are looking at 100 million, maybe. 100 million euros (£82.4m) at least!”
Spurs tend to do their shopping in the £30m-£60m price range and they have historically not tended to push through big-money deals in January, reserving those for the summer.
It will be interesting to see what profile of attacker the club go for in January. While Richarlison‘s injury woes might force them to consider another centre-forward, a winger who is good one-v-one is also much needed at the moment.
