India DECLINES visiting Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, PCB to host major ICC event post 2027

New Delhi: With only 70 days to go and the schedule not yet released by the ICC, uncertainty looms over the Champions Trophy 2025. This uncertainty sprung up when India declared they won’t be sending their team to Pakistan due to security issues. There’s still an unsettled argument concerning the venue of the tournament. However, a beacon of resolution seems to be in sight with the emergence of the hybrid model, bringing hope for a solution.

India is set to compete in a neutral territory, while the rest of the event will be hosted by Pakistan. Supposing India makes it to the semi-finals, these matches and the final will be transferred to the impartial venue. On the flip side, if India gets knocked out earlier, Rawalpindi will host the semi-final, and the grand finale will be in Lahore.

As a reciprocal gesture, the PCB is set to make history by hosting an ICC women’s tournament for the first time ever in Pakistan, post 2027.

The upcoming face-off in the T20 World Cup 2026 between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, crossing out the prospect of teams having to journey to India for the showdown.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had put in a plea for compensation if India decided to pull back from visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025. Despite this, the International Cricket Council rendered no financial relief to the cricket governing body of Pakistan.
