ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Bulldog pride was in the air on Friday as the Cecilia community gathered at Cecilia High to show their support for the football team as they traveled to New Orleans.
"We're not a large city. We're not incorporated. You couldn't really tell that, though," said Cecilia High principal Nicole Usie. "We are called a community. That's what we are, but we could stand next to anyone."
Blow horns, cheers, and love showered the team while they loaded the buses on the way to the team's second straight trip to the state title game. Head Football Coach Dennis Skains says he recognizes and appreciates everything the community offers for his team.
"When you have a situation where we're going to the superdome, they come out for a fight and you know, they never kind of cease to amaze me in how they work and how much support and love they give to the kids," Skains said.
As a small community, Cecilia is known for supporting the bulldogs in a big way.
Jessica Solari is the mother of bulldog quarterback Diesel Solari. She says the support is felt from the very beginning.
"It don't start just at the high school. It starts from junior high also. The little league, whatever these kids want to do, they always getting support. From soccer to anything else," she said.
