ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County District Attorney's Office announced that Marquis Dixon, 27, of Albany, was sentenced to nine years in state prison on Friday in a firearm case. Dixon pleaded guilty back in October.
The initial indictment against Dixon alleged that he was knowingly in possession of a loaded illegal handgun on Clinton Avenue in Albany on June 20, 2023. He pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon on the day his trial was scheduled to begin, after he had originally pleaded not guilty.
In addition to the prison time, Dixon was ordered to serve a five-year term of post-release probation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Bryanne Perlanski and Marissa Olsen.
