A headless fox with a sex toy inserted in its backside was found in a street in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The animal was discovered by a person along Springbank Road, a residential street about two miles from the town centre, on Wednesday.
‘Just seen a horrific sight at the top of Springbank Road opposite Henley Road,’ the stunned person wrote on social media.
‘Decapitated fox with a sex toy inserted in its rectum… How could someone be so cruel.’
The user asked the group what they could do, stating they had already phoned the animal welfare charity RSPCA but the local branch was closed.
Addressing whoever decapitated the fox, they said: ‘You are clearly in need of help to do this to an animal.’
Replying to others in the thread, the user said police are now investigating and are combing CCTV in the local area.
‘Praying whoever is responsible gets Karma,’ they added.
The police said: ‘Police were called on Wednesday to a report of a dead animal that had been mutilated and left in a public place.
‘Officers were called by a member of the public shortly after 4.30pm about the partial remains of a fox that had been left on Springbank Road.
‘They have since removed the animal and appropriately disposed of it.
‘Investigations have taken place in the area, including a review of CCTV and house-to-house enquiries, in an effort to understand the circumstances leading up to the fox’s discovery.’
