Teyana Taylor was done up in all leather. The singer and actress attended the launch of the first Skims store on Thursday. Held in New York City, the event played host to stars like Cardi B, La La Anthony, FKA Twigs, Ice Spice, Gayle King and many more. Brand co-founder Kim Kardashian was also there, first wearing a pair of transparent mules before switching to Uggs that were a collaboration with Chrome Hearts.
While some of the attendees went animal print based — Cardi B chose leopard print including a bodysuit and trench coat from Skims as well as a pair of leopard print Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps — Taylor chose black leather. She wore a kimono robe style black leather coat. With no lapels, the piece sported voluminous sleeves and a thick wrap belt that cinched the waist. She paired it with trompe l’oeil elbow high second-skin gloves that featured gold nail embellishments and accents on the hand.
For shoes, Taylor stuck with black leather. She chose a version of the popular Rick Owens Kiss boot. That platform style was first introduced in 2019 and has become a bestseller for the brand. It typically features a clear, block heel and is unisex. The first collection they were seen in was inspired by designer Larry Legaspi who designed for the band Kiss amongst others.
Since, Owens has offered multiple versions of the Kiss boot. Taylor’s version is from the fall 2024 season. Hailing from the Porterville collection, it is a second-skin style over the knee. But below the knee, the leather flares slightly. It notably features ridges down the front dubbed the “rhino detail.”. The footwear includes two different types of leather: a stretch lamb leather and cow leather. The signature beveled grill that all Kiss boots include, with the silver rivets, is present here.
Taylor is widely known as a fashion plate and is noted for her footwear specifically. She has previously collaborated on Jordan sneakers. But in addition, she’s not afraid of higher styles. Last year, she was seen in another pair of Rick Owens Kiss boots while at CultureCon. Those were also an over-the-knee style. Other platform boots she’s worn include the Marc Jacobs Kiki boot.
