PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Five animals trapped inside a Vancouver home during a house fire were rescued Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Just after 3:30 p.m., crews responded to 2705 Northeast Littler Way after neighbors reported hearing alarms and seeing smoke coming from the house.
Authorities said firefighters arrived, found a fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it.
After searching the home, crews found three kenneled dogs and two cats and carried them out to fresh air.
The home's residents also arrived at the scene shortly after. Authorities say they are now displaced from their home.
Officials add the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
