BASSETERRE – Amir Jangoo turned a childhood fantasy into reality by scoring a One-Day International (ODI) century on debut as the West Indies pulled off another record chase to defeat Bangladesh by four wickets and complete a series sweep yesterday at Warner Park.
The 27-year-old Jangoo gave himself the perfect Christmas gift, scoring an unbeaten 104, while Keacy Carty blasted 95 and the West Indies chased down Bangladesh’s imposing 321-5, finishing on 325-6 off 45.5 overs to comprehensively claim the series 3-0.
Jangoo became just the second West Indian since Desmond Haynes in 1978 to score an ODI century on debut and his knock helped West Indies record the highest successful run chase at Warner Park.
A West Indies victory had seemed unlikely after they had slumped to 31-3 early on. (CMC)
