Donald Trump was on the receiving end of if ridicule on MSNBC on Friday morning for appearing to walk back his campaign promise to lower the price of groceries.
After watching a super-clip of Trump complaining about food prices when he was on the campaign trail, and then saying in a new interview with Time magazine that there is likely little he can do about them, the panel on "Morning Joe" began joking about whether the president-elect has ever stepped foot in a grocery store.
In his interview with Time as part of his "Person of the Year" profile, Trump begged off on assuring voters he could make a difference, telling his. interviewers, "Look, they got them up. I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard."

That led MSNBC regular Mike Barnicle to ask former President George Bush speechwriter Elise Jordan, "I'm wondering what do you think, Elise. What do you think the over/under is on the last time that Donald Trump was in a grocery store? 40 years? 50 years?"
"Wow, I mean, does 7-Eleven count maybe on a campaign stop?" Jordan smirked. "Maybe on the campaign trail he wandered in, but I doubt even as a teenager he ever went to the grocery store –– probably not."
"Also I would add fast food to your list of concerns, too, which merges with groceries," she continued. "It is insane how expensive fast food has gotten and so much of the country relies on it. Just the other day getting a diet lemonade at Chick-fil-a, $4.75!"
"McDonald's has semi-happy meals," Barnicle joked.
'We're reminded he did do a campaign stop at a McDonald's which is something that those on his team thought was effective," co-host Jonathan Lemire contributed.
