South Africa will be aiming to book a series win over Pakistan when the two sides face off in the second T20 match of the three-match series at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Friday. Heinrich Klaasen-led SA are 1-0 up in the series after winning the first game in Durban by 11 runs.
David Miller with a brilliant 82 and all-round show by George Linde, who hit 48 off 24 balls with the bat and then picked up four wickets, set up the Proteas win in the first game against Mohammad Rizwan’s side. Former captain Babar Azam fell for a duck while Rizwan came up with a half-century but his strike-rate was too less to put South Africa in any major threat.
The home will miss the services of Anrich Nortje, who has got injured immediately after his comeback. The pacer has fractured his toe which forced him to sit out of the first T20 and will be replaced in the squad by all-rounder Dayyaan Galiem.
South Africa’s win in the first T20 earlier in the week, broke a string off three successive losses at the hands of Pakistan. Before Tuesday’s win, SA’s last win over Pakistan had come in a T20 match had come back in April 2021.
TEAM UPDATE
Dafabet Warriors fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the remainder of the KFC T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan and the proceeding three-match One-Day International series due to a left toe injury.
