Court documents reveal new details in SW OKC ATM theft

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A man was arrested on Friday after an armed robbery call where a suspect forced a metro store owner to help steal his store's ATM.

"I feel for the store owner, he didn't need a gun in his face," said Patrick Engle, who said he helped Oklahoma City Police find the suspect.

Engle said he owns the house where the getaway car used in the crime was allegedly found. Eventually, the ATM would be found in a shed nearby. Records show it was damaged as if someone had tried to break into it but failed.

According to an affidavit, Guadalupe Rosales allegedly went to S & S Grocery near Agnew and SW 22nd on December 6th.

Documents detailed that he entered the store and zip-tied the owner near the ATM. Rosales allegedly tried stealing the machine but couldn't because it was heavy so he pointed a firearm at the owner and forced him to help out.

Surveillance footage captured by the store's cameras allegedly caught the vehicle involved and its license plate. The footage showed that the plate belonged to a registered owner who lived near SW 27th and Shartel Ave.

"Yeah, I was putting up the Christmas Tree in the rectory (at St. Mount Mary's Catholic High School nearby) when the maintenance man told me that police were staked outside my house," said Engle.

Engle eventually contacted police and told them he knew where the alleged getaway car was.

Throughout the day, Engle told police that Rosales had borrowed a dolly and even borrowed his car.

"I think he used that dolly to help load up the ATM or load it out," said Engle.

Police would eventually find the borrowed vehicle and arrest Rosales along with two other women in the vehicle.

Police are also seen on video taking a baby in a carrier out of the vehicle.

"Who wants somebody that might be a danger to themselves or others on the loose," said Engle.

Engle also told News 4 that he felt bad for the family along with Rosales and said that he hopes he gets the rehabilitation he needs.

Rosales was booked into Oklahoma County jail on a $75,000 bond and faces a charge of robbery or attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, as well as a charge of kidnapping.
