I hated his act "in the day" but that's what the ignorant homophobic audiences wanted back then i suppose ... probably still do.
However i almost "accidentally" ended up seeing him whilst going to watch a friend's act after he dropped all the camp bullshit (and before he had his stroke) and he was actually extremely good at what he did and a lot more subtle and nuanced than when at the height of his fame
