THE Corrie cast have been left fuming after learning their Christmas party has been axed this year.
The hard working cast and crew on the hit ITV show have fallen victim to budget cuts and will not be celebrating another successful year all together.
The Coronation Street Christmas party has been cancelled[/caption] The party back in 2022[/caption]An insider said: “Like many companies this year, bosses have had to think about budgets and it was decided that a huge festive bash wasn’t the best idea.
“People can celebrate in smaller groups if they wish, but there won’t be the usual shindig that the cast and crew have come to love.
“It’s been a difficult year in lots of ways and despite the show smashing it on screen, there has been lots of changes behind the scenes.”
It comes after their summer bash was also cancelled and the stars were forced to splash the cash on their own do.
Lucy Fallon ended up hosting the party and was joined by Julia Goulding, Tina O’Brien and Charlotte Jordan.
Earlier this year it was revealed that the budget cuts had left the Coronation Street stars “fearing for their future“.
We previously reported how Corrie has changed the way it films in order to stem the flow of cash outgoings.
The cast are believed to have had their scenes slashed as part of a cost-saving measure.
According to reports in the Sunday Mirror, show bosses have decreased the number of extras used and have also increased “back-to-back” filming.
An insider told the publication: “The changes haven’t gone down well with the cast.
“Many of them are panicking about what these cuts mean for their futures.
“Bosses are said to have cut back on using freelancers and instead are replying on in-house staff to do the lion’s share o the work.”
And earlier this year Corrie lost one of its sponsors as their deal with Co-op came to an end.
It had a shopfront on set and an infamous Co-op shopping bag hanging on the back of Tyrone and Fiz’s backdoor.
