The latest injury news ahead of tonight’s game between Golden State and Houston.
The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets square off tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT on TNT in the quarterfinals of the Emirates NBA Cup. With a win, the Warriors will head to Las Vegas to play the Oklahoma City Thunder, who clinched their spot in the semifinals last night. With a loss, the Dubs will schedule a game against the Dallas Mavericks to ensure that they have 82 games on the books this year.
Golden State has beaten Houston twice this year, including last week, when they won despite not having Steph Curry or Draymond Green available. And they won’t quite have a full roster tonight, either.
Here’s the full injury report:
Out — Moses Moody (left knee patellar tendonopathy)
Moody has had to leave the last two games in the first half after suffering a mild knee injury. So today the Dubs are just not putting him on the floor, and hoping he gets fully healthy.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)
No new news here on Melton, who is out for the year. His contract will be eligible to be traded come Sunday.
Questionable — Andrew Wiggins (right ankle impingement)
Wiggins was dominant in the team’s short-handed win over Houston last week, even though he was compromised with an injured ankle. We’ll see if he’s able to suit up for this game.
Questionable — Alperen Şengün (left knee soreness)
Şengün appears destined for the first of many All-Star selections. The 22-year old Turkish center, selected two picks after Moody in the 2021 draft, is averaging 18.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, and has become the clear best player on a very good Rockets team. His availability in this game is massive.
Questionable — Steven Adams (right knee injury recovery)
Speaking of massive ... Steven Adams! He’s huge! He’s only played in 13 games this year after missing the entire 2023-24 season due to a knee injury, but he provides a seriously large, strong, and physical presence.
Questionable — Jae’Sean Tate (lower back pain)
Tate has not been able to match the production that he had in his first two NBA seasons after being an undrafted player, though part of that is due to Houston just having a better team now, with fewer minutes up for grabs. He hasn’t played much of a role this year.
Questionable — Cam Whitmore (left wrist contusion)
So far Whitmore has looked less like the player once projected to be a top-five pick in 2023, and more like the player who fell to No. 20, one spot after Brandin Podziemski was selected. He’s only played in eight NBA games this year, and has averaged just 9.9 minutes per game, while the Rockets have had him get some seasoning in the G League.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
