Super agent Scott Boras held his annual press conference at the Winter GM Meetings in Arizona on Wednesday and, as expected, filled it with puns, including one referencing Pete Alonso and his demand in the free agent market saying “The Polar Bear Express is rolling.”
Boras mentioned that contrary to a lack of noise, there is “a lot of market locomotion regarding Pete (Alonso).”. Alonso is a free agent who has expressed his love for the New York Mets and desire to return to the team.
While discussing Sean Manaea, Boras stated, “There is a new Sean rising…the demand for him is great.”. Manaea has publicly stated his love for his time in New York and would welcome a return to Flushing.
Regarding Juan Soto: “He is under physical, so I can’t talk about him.” According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, apress conference to announce Juan Soto’s signing has tentatively been scheduled for 3 P.M. on Thursday, December 12 at Citi Field.
Lastly, in regards to the Mets as an organization, he said:
“I think it’s pretty evident the Mets have decided they’re going to pursue winning and winning for a long time. They’ve made it very clear to us that they’re not limited to signing one great player but multiple great players. They will be very steady and very committed to acquiring the best talent.”
The Mets have shown themselves not financially bound this year, and due to Boras’ list of high-quality talent, it seems the relationship between him and David Stearns will be growing this offseason.
