BACKCOMBING and tonnes of hairspray are the ways many people have come to rely on when creating a volumised ponytail.
But a hack shared by Kim Kardashian’s hairdresser Chris Appleton has shown how to achieve the look without potentially damaging your locks in the process.
Kim Kardashian loves a volumised ponytail – and there’s one man she credits for the look[/caption] Her hairdresser Chris Appleton has a nifty hack to achieving the look with no backcombing involved[/caption] He begins by sectioning the top half into a ponytail, and then pulling it upwards and through itself[/caption] He then creates another ponytail underneath the first, using the remaining hair[/caption]Chris took to TikTok to explain the hack, as he began by sectioning off the top part of his model’s hair and tying with a hairband.
He then took that section of hair, and flipped it up and backwards through a hole he’d created just above the band.
Once that was done, he flicked that section up and out of the way, before gathering the rest of the woman’s hair into another ponytail underneath the first.
Chris then made another hole in the hair above the first ponytail, and pulled the second ponytail through it.
He finished off by pulling the hair in the band underneath tight, adding to the volumised look.
Masses of hairspray concluded the ponytail makeover.
“Try this pony hack!” Chris wrote in the caption for the video.
And people were quick to take to the comments section to weigh in on Chris’ hack, with one writing: “Immediately yes!”
“Now that’s achievable for me! Thanks Chris,” another praised.
“Love this! Will have to try it,” a third gushed.
“Ohhhhh so good!” someone else said.
As another commented how “fun and easy” the hack looked.
“This hack looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it out myself,” someone else added.
But others insisted the hack had been around for years, and they swore by the style in the Nineties.
“Wasn’t this called topsy tail in the 90s? I love when trends some back lol!” one wrote.
“I used to wear my hair like that to primary school in the 90s,” another laughed.
“We were doing this in the 90’s,” a third agreed.
While someone else wrote: “It’s the 80’s/90’s topsy tail!
“Looks pretty though!”
Kim is no stranger to a volumised pony, and has sported it on the red carpet in the past.
Chris also counts Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and Dua Lipa among his celebrity clients, and is even credited for “creating” Ariana Grande’s high ponytail.
