VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) -- An arrest has been made in the case of a Ville Platte woman who has been missing since June, authorities said.
Elrick J. Gallow, 52, of Baton Rouge, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case of Keabreonna “Keke” Doucet.
Police said Gallow was romantically involved with Doucet.
"Initally, Mr. Elrick Gallow was a person of interest. Throughout the course of the investigation, new evidence surfaced to where we had enough information to apply for an arrest warrant," said Sgt. Darrian Guillory, a detective with the Ville Platte Police Department.
Doucet, 27, was scheduled to meet her daughter on June 15 but never arrived at the meeting place. Doucet’s family said her phone was located at Chief Romeo Hargrove City Park later that day. It’s less than a mile from her home. After that, they said the phone was turned off, and it hasn’t come back on since.
Gallow was arrested this morning by Ville Platte Police and is being held without bond, court records show.
Kimberly Doucet, Keke's aunt, said the fight for justice isn't over.
"I just want to say thank God that we have a little bit of justice. We are not finished yet. We are still working and that the rest of the justice will be served," she said.
Lekethia Griffith, a cousin of Keke, said the family is still hoping and praying that Keke will be found.
"We would love to have her back physically with us, especially to be with her young daughter, because, you know, it's going to be a fight for the rest of her life that she doesn't have a mother," Griffith said.
She continued, "We can't replace [her] mother, but we are going to love on her. She can always call. We're always going to be there for her not matter what her situation is or what she's going through. We're going to stick together with her. So she's going to be treated just like any other kid. She will not miss anything. No holidays, birthdays or anything."
The case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Ville Platte Police Department at 337-363-1316 and ask for Sgt. Guillory.
