British Adaptive Judo has welcomed judoka of all levels of disability (Physical, Sensory, Intellectual Impairment, Learning) to a full-packed timetable for a number of years, and it never fails to be an incredibly inspiring day.
BJA Adaptive Working Group Lead Kerry Tansey will be coaching alongside members of the GB coaching team and members of the GB Squad (competition and training commitments dependent). There will also be a presentation to parents and coaches explaining the pathways and processes within Adaptive Judo along with the recognition with EJU & IJF.
The day will be delivered to address all levels of impairment with the support from the GB Adaptive Working Group Coaches and GB athletes (competition and training commitment depending).
All levels are welcome from novice to experienced, from beginners to Champions, with many of our GB Adaptive team also in attendance.
Personal coaches are welcome on the mat too.
There will be two mat areas to accommodate different levels of Visually Impaired players and all disabilities. Wheelchair players with their care workers or coaches will enjoy this training day as it is open to all levels of disabilities for junior and senior judoka wishing to have a fun day of training with top coaches involved in British inclusion.
The following day will see the National Training Centre open it’s doors of the first National Adaptive Judo Conference for all of the judo family with a focus around identifying two most common neurodiverse impairments within your clubs – ADHD, Autism.
Guest speakers will share their experience on each of the subjects supporting the coaching within your clubs. Mat-based sessions will follow offering adaptations to be inclusive and technical proficiency for all members within your Judo clubs.
It will be a relaxed and informative day of presentations and physical engagement with a judogi and/or tracksuit required for the practical elements of the day.
Tea and coffee will be provided, however you will need to bring your own lunch provisions.
