Man who caused Heated moment between Mohammed Siraj and Marnus Labuschagne opens up about the ‘beer snake’ Incident
On the first day of the Second Test between India and Australia in Adelaide, a man with a ‘beer snake’ caused distraction to Marnus Labuschagne, but has now opened up about the incident. Lachie Burtt was the name of the person who ran from behind the sight screen as the Australian star was facing Mohammed Siraj.
Burtt diverted Labuschagne’s attention which caused him backing away from the stumps, resulting in Siraj getting infuriated as he threw the ball along with having an exchange with the Australian batter.

Lachie spoke about the incident since it happened, stating that he did not think about the consequences of his deed and clarified that all he wanted to do was escape the guards.
“In my head at that time, I just wanted to get away from the guard, so I saw the space and hopped over the tiny white rope. I didn’t really have time to stop and think what I was doing right now and what the effects were going to be because of it,” Burtt told 9News.
He even repressed how he regretted and accepted what he did to Marnus was wrong. Even the Australian batter understood that nothing was on purpose, as he wrote “No Worries, brother” on his Instagram post.
“I did feel a bit silly, it wasn’t the right thing … sorry Marnus. It’s probably not the right thing to do, but no one got hurt. I didn’t jump the fence or anything. It was one ball, and Marnus (Labuschagne) got a four after that, so no worries,” he added.
“The funny thing was everyone could buy four drinks [at one time], so we were all sitting there with four drinks each and there was 67 of us,” Burtt told News Corp.
This came in the context of him saying that a total of a massive $2750 (INR 1,48,699) was spend in order to build the ‘beer snake’, which was made by 250 empty cups. This masterpiece was made by seven people in total.
