NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) -- In recent years, there has been a proliferation of ghost guns -- weapons without traceable markings.
In Nassau County, 13 were seized this year. On Tuesday, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced the arrest of a man who was allegedly making the ghost guns.
Parmbir Singh, 23, of Floral Park, has been indicted on a long list of federal and state gun charges. They stem from a smorgasbord of weapons investigators uncovered during a raid of his home last month.
Donnelly said the search, "Revealed a makeshift workshop for the construction and assembly of ghost guns."
Inside the home, investigators located several concealed storage compartments with floating shelves behind walls. “In those compartments, we did find two completed and loaded ghost guns,” Donnelly revealed.
The suspect aroused suspicion because of his prolific online purchases of parts to assemble guns. Authorities said he was ordering night sights, slides, magazine extensions, lasers and flashlights for Glock pistols. The parts, if assembled correctly, could build working ghost guns, authorities said.
Among the tools used to produce the weapons was a sophisticated 3D printer.
"These weapons can be made anywhere by anyone at any time if you have the right tools," Donnelly said.
Authorities estimated that the sale of a ghost gun could be worth as much as a thousand dollars.
Finding all these weapons in a home raised concerns, but Donnelly was reassuring. “There was nothing that we took from the house that indicated he was planning anything, but I think the mere possession of something that can cause so much harm leads me to worry," Donnelly said.
The alleged ghost gun maker has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Unable to post half a million dollars in bail, he is being held in Nassau County Jail until his next court appearance next month.
