OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The Oklahoma City Police Department is looking for a suspect after a deadly hit-and-run in Southwest Oklahoma City Tuesday morning.
It happened on SW 44th Street, between Robinson Avenue and Walker Avenue.
“It's a madhouse, really,” said Arik West, who’s lived in the area for decades.
The incident happened near his home around 8 a.m. He said he wishes drivers would slow down.
“It wasn't a real surprise. It's just, you know, it was a matter of time,” said West. “Radical speeds. I mean, it’s like they're on the freeway.”
According to OKCPD, a man was found severely injured in a driveway near the road. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Oklahoma City Police later identified the victim as John Trammell.
Charles Bradford said he walks on the sidewalk along SW 44th everyday.
"It could have been me,” said Bradford.
He agrees that speeding is a major concern in the area.
"They need to slow they a**es down,” said Bradford. “They really need to slow down because it's a busy street. Everybody walks down the street."
Both men wish more would be done to enforce the speed limit.
"I wish there was a little more patrol, you know,” said West. “I mean, it had to come down to this. It's just amazing that it hadn't happened sooner."
Right now the police don’t have any information about a suspect. They’re asking for witnesses to give them a call.
