Penticton, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward and captain Conyr Hellyer (’04) has committed to Clarkson University, the team announced on Tuesday.
“I’m excited for a new chapter with Clarkson,” began Hellyer. “Their staff and facilities are the professional environment that I was looking for and I was immediately impressed in what they had to offer.”
Hellyer has 15 points (6G, 9A) in 18 games this season, sitting ninth in team scoring. The Okotoks, Alberta, product was recently named to the BC Hockey League (BCHL) All-Star Game, which is January 18th, in Salmon Arm, BC. Last season, Hellyer amassed 28 points (12G, 16A) in 43 regular season games. He added nine points (4G, 5A) in 22 playoff games last spring. This is Hellyer’s fourth and final season in junior hockey, as prior to joining the Vees, he played two seasons for his hometown Okotoks Oilers in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Clarkson University is located in Potsdam, New York and was one of 28 founding members of the ECAC in 1961. The Golden Knights have made 22 NCAA tournament appearances in its program history, with the most recent coming in 2019.
