Come watch the NBA Cup quarterfinals with Fear the Sword!
The NBA Cup is here! Join Tony Pesta and Jackson Flickinger on Playback as they watch the Oklahoma City Thunder battle the Dallas Mavericks at 9:30 pm.
The Thunder, as many predicted, are the best team in the Western Conference. Their collection of multifaceted players has reaped rewards. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is an MVP candidate and the supporting cast around him is a team-building masterclass.
Oklahoma City holds the best defense in the NBA and it’s easy to see why. Lu Dort, Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Hartenstein and Isaiah Joe are a nightmare for opponents. That’s not even including the shot-blocking Chet Holmgren, who is out indefinitely with a hip injury. Still, the Thunder are well-equipped for anything thrown at them.
Meanwhile, Dallas is sitting in 4th place of the conference. It’s easy to forget Luka Doncic is still only 25 years old but the perrenial superstar is still capable of dismantling anyone on any given night. His running mate, Kyrie Irving, is averaging 24.3 points on a blistering 59.3 effective field goal percentage.
The Mavs aren’t nearly as deep as OKC but their frontloaded starpower will give them a chance. This matchup has all the makings of an explosive clash between a handful of megastar players.
