December 10: Dylan Chua and Amelie Ng were crowned the inaugural SGA-BFG Junior Golf Series A Division Order of Merit champions as the curtains came down on the year-long campaign at the Grand Final on Tuesday.
Held at the Tanjong course of the Sentosa Golf Club, Lee Seunghan and Vedona Gong – aged eight and 10 respectively – emerged as the overall B Division Order of Merit champions while eight-year-old Lee Taemin and nine-year-old Sydney Ng clinched the C Division merit crown after a nine-month period that featured over 30 events island-wide. Other golf clubs that hosted the SGA-BFG Junior Golf Series include Changi Golf Club, Keppel Club, Orchid Country Club, Sembawang Country Club, Warren Golf and Country Club, and Mandai Executive Golf Course.
With their podium finishes, 13-year-olds Chua and Ng are eligible for selection for SGA Junior Development Squad in January 2025, while Seunghan, Taemin, Vedona and Sydney qualify for a major international junior championship in 2025, with SGA offering financial support for the tournament.
Lawrence Ng, co-founder of BFG Golf said: “After nine months of competition and tournament exposure for our junior players in Singapore, we are pleased that such opportunities have proven to be a very invaluable experience for our juniors.
As a Singapore-headquartered company with a global presence, we aim to provide our aspiring junior golfers with the platform to develop their fullest potential. And we are proud to partner with SGA to meet that objective.”
Anthony Maniam, SGA Junior Development Committee Chairman added: “One of SGA’s missions is nurturing and developing junior golfers. The inaugural SGA-BFG Junior Golf Series has proven to be a success and we look forward to working closely with BFG Golf to unearth more golfing talents from Singapore.”
To further support junior golf development, BFG Golf and SGA have committed to a scholarship program that supports the performance development of junior golfers as they embark on their golf journey to become future champions. More details will be announced at a later date.
