Eric Trump boasted that his father will be the most pro-crypto president in history in his keynote address at the Bitcoin Mena conference in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.
“You’re going to have the most pro-crypto president in the history of America,” Eric said to the audience.
He pledged that America would lead the way in the “digital revolution,” echoing the words of the former president on the campaign trail.
Eric argued cryptocurrency could be used as a means of financing for millions of individuals without assets who have been “failed by the modern world.”
“The traditional banking system is antiquated,” he said.
“Think about a president who isn’t going to allow Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to be overregulated and stifled,” he later added.
Eric said crypto-currency as a lifeline for the Trump family after the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. A number of leading banks and other companies cut ties with Trump and his allies following the attack.
“Had it not been for those attacks, I don’t think my eyes would have been as open to the crypto industry,” he told the crowd.
The president-elect helped launch the Trump family's venture into the crypto market, World Liberty Financial, in September. Public trading of tokens on the platform began in October. It reportedly sold about $2.7 million in the first two weeks, well short of its $300 million goal.
The U.S. currently ranks third globally for crypto investments, outpaced by China and India, according to Insider Monkey, a hedge fund data tracker.
During his speech, Eric noted the value of Bitcoin surged to $100,000 per token after Trump named crypto enthusiast Paul Atkins as his SEC nominee.
