FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas head coach Courtney Deifel has added a veteran utility player from the University of Texas, with the signing of graduate transfer Courtney Day.

During her four seasons in Austin (2020-23), she posted a .317 batting average and .395 on-base percentage with 120 hits, 22 doubles, two triples, 26 home runs, 63 runs scored, 44 walks and 91 RBI through 176 games played. She has registered 23 multi-hit games and 24 multi-RBI games during her collegiate career.
A native of Pearland, Texas, Day appeared primarily at first base and designated player during her time at Texas, in addition to pitching. Day owned a 2.45 earned run average and 47 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched while with the Longhorns.
During her most recent season of collegiate game action in 2023, Day recorded a .308 batting average with 40 hits, including seven doubles and seven home runs, in addition to a career-high 22 walks, 40 runs scored and 31 RBI.
In 2022, Day helped Texas advance to the Women’s College World Series, where she was named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team after leading Texas with three home runs and eight RBIs during the event. At the plate, she hit an even .300 over 57 games played, totaling 39 hits, 21 runs scored, a team-leading 12 home runs, 34 RBIs, and a squad-high .654 slugging percentage.
As a sophomore, Day saw action in 33 games, including 23 starts. She hit .323 with 20 hits, five extra-base hits, two home runs and 11 RBI while posting a 3.67 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched.
During the pandemic-shortened season in 2020 as a freshman, Day went a perfect 5-0 in the circle with a team-best 1.00 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 28 innings while also batting .368 with four doubles, a squad-high five home runs and 15 RBIs over 25 games.
A four-year letter winner in softball at Glenda Dawson (TX) High School, Day is coming off a senior campaign that saw her bat .561 overall with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 43 runs batted in while posting a 1.06 ERA in the circle on the way to earning Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State, all-region first team and District 23-6A Most Valuable Player honors. As a junior, she was tabbed 2018 Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Second Team All-State as well as first-team all-region and District 23-6A Most Valuable Player after posting a 14-4 pitching mark with a 0.95 ERA and 144 strikeouts and hitting .521 with 15 runs scored, four doubles, 15 home runs and 40 runs batted in.
Arkansas has won two of the last four regular season SEC titles. The Razorbacks are coming off a 37-18 mark in 2024, which featured their seventh-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth in 2024 and fifth national seed, all of which have come under head coach Courtney Deifel’s guidance.
