Crocs is preparing for the second season of “Squid Game,” one of Netflix’s most popular shows, with a new limited-edition clog inspired by the dystopian series. Season 2 of the South Korean show, which has already been nominated for a Golden Globe, is set to hit Netflix on Dec. 26.
A description of the collection reads, “This limited-edition collection reimagines Crocs’ iconic Classic Clog through the gripping lens of Squid Game, merging practicality with a design language that speaks to survival, strategy, and spectacle.”
The Classic Clog is reinterpreted with a design taking inspiration from the recognizable green tracksuits worn in “Squid Game.” The likeness of a tracksuit zipper is on the center of the upper while a red design resembling blood splatter is on the side and back of the shoe, hinting at the violent nature of the eponymous game. Other details include the “Squid Game” logo on the clog’s rivets while player ID “456” is an embellishment on the ankle strap; the sole also features symbols related to the game. The shoe retails for $69.99.
The collection also includes six Jibbitz to adorn the perforated upper; among these-on theme pieces are the homicidal doll, Young-hee, dalgona cookie and Pink Soldier mask, and more. A $19.99 5-pack of “Squid Game”-themed Jibbitz can also be purchased separately.
Season 1 of “Squid Game” hit Netflix in 2021 and became a global sensation. Back then, the show was responsible for a surge in interest for tracksuits and white slip-on shoes, which the characters wore with their sporty ensembles; Vans in particular were trending. “Squid Game” actress HoYeon Jung was tapped to star in an Adidas Originals campaign in 2021 after the release of Season 1.
